Autumn oxymoron

Falling
on the ground,
leaves
scattered,
Are they still leaves?

Hopping,
on the ground,
birds
pecking all day
Are they still birds?

wish i could hang around like a hammock..
waiting for someone to rock me...
that life is not up in the sky, tree
or down on the ground,
nor a push to move
or pull to get close,
nor left or right ideologue

Nor life is an OR,
but an AND..

In between,
the stillness and suspension of breathing..

wishing I could..

wish I could savor the moment..
the unfound peace in contradictions of the little atoms in me.

31 days

Please,
count with your heart.
Then you will realize that our heart does not count.
it simply waits lovingly,
beats patiently, and
looks forward to each beating for a love that keeps the rhythm going..

Please,
count with your eyes closed.
Then you will realize that counting is not having chronological numbers,
but having what matters most in our lives.

Days are long,
nights are restless.
but we remain as solid as 1,2,3 certainty,
as the dusk of our days and dawn of our nights.

Sweet estranged lives

When was coffee unlike the night parting for early dawn;
dark, strong, and brewing of energy in the air.

When was night unlike coffee getting cold and aroma gone;
dull, strong, and unscreaming of a muted affair.

When, o when..

Was it when the songs became my music?
Was it when I befriended my lonesome self?

You know, I woke up this morning without a thought of you.
I did not seek your warmth, and enjoyed the morning dew.
Alone, I went on.

I was OK and you're away,
I was fine without a kiss.

Damn it! each and everyday
Steadily, I hate this.

Some Senryus of UPeace memories

Submission

Deadline tomorrow
Number of words incomplete
What the heck! I’ll sleep.

In love

Falling hard like rain
Millions of drops pushing down
My heart, falling too.

Choices

Fiestas, beach outings
discos, traveling around
Homeworks, anyone?

Some haikus of UPeace memories

Wondering

Aloft birds are free
Overlooking you and me
Who gets the best view?

Separation

As the bus moved on,
I looked around to see you
Not in this bus, sigh.

Objectivity

Glass windows see through
I’m inside, watching airplane
And a bird crashes.

Living the Dream Made Forty Years Ago: In Memory of Martin Luther King, Jr.

Forty years, forty years ago
A dream was told
For me and for you
Beautiful, equally bold.

My father kept that dream
In his heart, hopeful;
My mother sang the dream
With her lullabies, glorious.

My brothers played the sports
Representing the stars and banner;
My sisters cheered them all
Knowing my brothers a winner

Too, I have a dream now
One day, my father, mother
Brothers and sisters will come
Living this dream, together.

Same dream made and told,
Forty, forty years ago.

Suddenly you

listless living

daily grinding
of worldly pursuits

walking aimlessly
crowded streets, various sights
life's distractions

i saw you, suddenly

spirits awoken
voices resonating with mine

little by little, each step
pursuits, distractions, sights, streets
leading to you clearly

now
when i see you
i see
my future.

Spring eternally

Here,

A scent of heaven

descend,

Colors of joy around

profound,

Spring, oh spring

refreshingly

beautiful presence

what is heaven if unshared?

what is joy if unaccompanied?

what is spring then?

A distant dream

in space and time,

Spring, oh spring

eternal in my waiting

eternal in my heart

all season of love.

I Choose You

In my life

I could not choose my height, nor skin color
my parents, and my birthday and place

Many else were handed to me willingly
I have embraced them what else

Could I choose with every thought in my mind
with every beating of my heart

It's you I choose, a partner in life
a beautiful soul, a gifted light

An inspiration and motivation in the midst of ordinariness
A passionate companion, in failure and success

Of my life

Lost Poem

You were beautiful
when I met you

Your were more beautiful
when I got to know
and talk with you

You are more beautiful
than ever
When I see you
with me
When you see me
with you
When we see each
other together
For the rest of our
lives.

Love

Don't tell me about love

That love says sorry
and forgives
That love understands and
accepts
That love dialogues and
makes others grow
That love does not take
advantage and is true
Please, Don't

Just show me love

Slippers' Words

A slipper has a partner, left or right,

right or left. Together they go,

wherever their goal. When walking,

at times ahead, at times behind

but in pursuit. When resting,

they’re side by side, not apart.

When one is missing,

the other one is miserly.

No worth, no use. What to be done for one,

in the corner insignificant.

Two together, left or right, suit alright.

They have story, they have meaning.

In the night staying,

in the day walking. Every step,

closer to destination, like our farewell tonight.

If we never meet again,

wherever this trip takes us,

a day will come; in our travel, we will understand –

like a slipper easily worn out, like us having a stop,

but remember; you or I, left or right,

have a partner.

Tribute to 2008 UPeace Graduates

From a Mt. Olympus-like El Rodeo,

With Mercurian and Hermetic gift, bestowed

Power and mission to seek truth;

Go,

Down the hill, onto the world

Be resolute.

Ready to start anew,

Refusing no invitation;

Continue,

Down the hill, onto the world

Where no wind blows

Welcome the discomfort

No place wherein you're not;

Come,

Down the hill, onto the world

Do not look back. (I won't be around.)

Do not look far beyond. (I won't be there.)

Do not look for me, either;

I am,

Down the hill, onto the world

See me, lose me, find yourself,

In peace, love, hope, change.

Be them, live them;

I remain,

Down the hill, onto the world.

Finding you in your absence

Children's laughter in the air

Songs of hope in vespers

Everything so familiar

Except for one,

Where are you, my love?

Shopping in frenzy for discounts

Gifts wrapped for loved ones

Names so familiar

Except for one,

Where are you, my love?

Years passed without you

By my side you used to

But now it's been familiar

Except for one,

I find you in the absence of your love.

Dead Star: A Love Lost

I may be a dead star

Shunned by the beholder looking for a wrong one

Or withheld of a bestowed light in a waning time.

Yes, I may be a dead star

Lost its energy to capture an awed eye

And left to trifle solely in a spotless sky

With the countless dead others by and by.

Now I am a dead star

Buried in the heart of a mind

Yet blinking in the mind of a heart.
